    Can we talk?

When? Twice monthly: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month
    Location: 108 The Moor, S1 4PD (usually)
The “Can We Talk” group coaching sessions focus on safe space conversations that enable personal growth, within a supportive community.
The sessions offer a new piece of learning at the start of every session, with the intention to increase self-awareness and allow men to learn how to take responsibility for their own lives, goals and feelings. This is achieved through open, honest, confidential and non-judgemental discussions.
The sessions place an emphasis on community, encouraging everyone to stand together, support each other, and emphasize that it is okay not to be okay. The sessions are free and open to any men over the age of 18, no matter what background, class or heritage you come from.
Men Up North has hosted over 500 safe spaces for men, and the themes for sessions have taken on board feedback to ensure the content provided is relevant and useful, and is what men want to learn and discuss.

    OUTREACH

These sessions have also gone outreach, and taken place in barber shops, pubs, gyms, trendy food halls, workplaces, and University campuses to name but a few. The idea of these projects being based in these locations is to reach out to men traditionally already occupying these spaces and to grow our community. With the aim of reframing, challenging, or bringing in new conversations to these spaces, to transform them into positive and healthy discussions.
Some of our most successful events were held in an award-winning barbershop. A barbershop is intergenerational and also often a place people gather to socialise and talk. Men Up North wanted to carry on with these traditions, whilst also adding in themed safe space group conversations for men. The barbershop itself has a following of over 100,000 on Instagram and is famous across the world. The intention was also to attract and encourage younger men to attend, as a men’s coaching session held in a trendy, popular barbershop is a unique experience. Sometimes barbers even stay over and cut hair, a bonus.

    Online Group

This is only available to existing members of the community at the present time. Held on Zoom twice monthly: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month.
The regularity depends on volunteer leaders from the community and demand for this to go on. This is a chance for the members of the community to practice leadership and support each other.
